We are in Yellowstone with all of my side of the family for eight days of celebrating my parents’ fifty years of marriage. The only hard part of doing this post is narrowing down the choices of all that has been pretty, happy, funny, and real this week.
Pretty
The mineral springs and geysers are like nothing I have ever seen. I kept thinking about what the first explorers must have thought when they came upon them.
Happy
I got so close to a group of bighorn ewes. I was actually surrounded at one point. All of our hearts were beating fast, but I was thrilled.
Funny
Ice cream breaks are a feature of my family’s trips. Many of us tried huckleberry for the first time — yum!
Real
This is a trip with little, medium, and big children, which gives it a different character than some others. Everybody has to be patient, everybody helps, everybody compromises. That’s what families do, right?
It has been a blessed and joyous week for me. What contentment have you captured this week?
