{pretty, happy, funny, real} Decluttering the bathroom edition

round button chicken

It’s {pretty, happy, funny, real} Thursday over at Like Mother, Like Daughter. And over here at In My Kitchen, In My Life, we are decluttering/refreshing/cleaning our houses to start the year off right.

Wednesday’s task was to make an improvement in a bathroom. I worked in our main floor half bath, where we have a vintage medicine cabinet over the sink and another vintage cabinet mounted above the toilet and just below a small, high window.

The medicine cabinet wasn’t too bad to begin with, which makes me Happy:

Funny

Anybody need an ear syringe? (Gotta keep it. The Husband would have palpitations if it wasn’t there. See? None of us has a perfect decluttering situation — we must work within our relationships. For us, that means we keep the ear syringe. Even though we (he) never (practically) use it. Nevertheless.

We have orthodontic wax — 2 containers — and we haven’t had anybody in braces for more than a year.

Pretty

Yay — medicine cabinet, er, healed:

Real

The extra cabinet appears not to have one side of it touched for some time:

Funny

This is a family heirloom. Vicks. Magical stuff. (Gotta keep it. The Wife would have palpitations if it wasn’t there. Just working within our relationships here. Even though we practically never use it, she just feels better knowing it’s there if she wants to smear on a little.)

Here is a real relic! My, my — this drugstore doesn’t even exist anymore, and check out the date:

Happy

Much better! Now there is room for more extra rolls of the toilet paper everybody but me hates. ‘Nother story, but we don’t need to go into that here.

I am so enjoying hearing about everyone’s work to make their houses more pleasant spaces in which to live their lives.
