{pretty, happy, funny, real}: Bullet Edition

round button chicken

Pretty

  • To walk by the tulips from the garden piled into a pitcher
  • To watch daffodils left in the yard tossing their bonnets about in the wind
  • To observe the progress of the paper garland The Daughter has been working on, ostensibly for an upcoming slumber party, but I suspect mostly because it is such pleasure to handle the pretty paper

Happy

  • To be outside in the middle of growing things
  • To sow lettuce seeds with a prayer and a smile
  • To hear good news

Funny

  • To see a Bichon puppy, clearly in charge, pass by in a car on the driver’s lap — the world his oyster, his to command and direct — I expect he just said, “Turn here into McD’s. I’m feeling peckish.”
  • For that matter, to be able to sit in McDonald’s and write a blog post…
  • And for that matter, that there is such a thing as blog posts…

Real

  • To deal with the Annual Ant Assault — it started early this year and seems heavier than ever. What works to keep the tinies out of the house?
  • To keep balance between my responsibilities and my want-to’s, which brings me to this irony:
  • To come to the end of a blog series on Balancing Balance — this is the list of essays, but the work of maintaining goes on and on:
