Pretty
- To walk by the tulips from the garden piled into a pitcher
- To watch daffodils left in the yard tossing their bonnets about in the wind
- To observe the progress of the paper garland The Daughter has been working on, ostensibly for an upcoming slumber party, but I suspect mostly because it is such pleasure to handle the pretty paper
Happy
- To be outside in the middle of growing things
- To sow lettuce seeds with a prayer and a smile
- To hear good news
Funny
- To see a Bichon puppy, clearly in charge, pass by in a car on the driver’s lap — the world his oyster, his to command and direct — I expect he just said, “Turn here into McD’s. I’m feeling peckish.”
- For that matter, to be able to sit in McDonald’s and write a blog post…
- And for that matter, that there is such a thing as blog posts…
Real
- To deal with the Annual Ant Assault — it started early this year and seems heavier than ever. What works to keep the tinies out of the house?
- To keep balance between my responsibilities and my want-to’s, which brings me to this irony:
- To come to the end of a blog series on Balancing Balance — this is the list of essays, but the work of maintaining goes on and on:
