{pretty, happy, funny, real} Just Because It’s on Pinterest Doesn’t Mean It’s a Good Idea

Pinterest can be a fun place to spend a little time, and there’s nothing wrong with that, in moderation. But it, and other sites like it, are making me realize we have to expand the application of that old, “Just because it’s written in a book doesn’t mean it’s true” maxim.
I’ll leave it to you to decide which photos are pretty, happy, funny or real.
Imagine taking up this much room in a cupboard to store a few packages of overpriced junk food:
Your neighbors may be long-suffering, but there are probably limits:
Really? Glitter in your purse, in your car, all over your hand…
Think of the logistics of doing this on your wedding day. Then think of the logistics of keeping it looking like this until the bride (that’s you) trots down the aisle. Then think of how fun it will be to have smooshed-up rose petals stuck to everyone’s shoes after they exit the ceremony spot. Is it worth it?
Curtains on either side of the crib – hello! If you end up with one of those climbing babies, he’s outta there…
Green cake – let green foods be green, and let not-green foods NOT be green:
You know how you laugh at 80s fashions (or whichever decade in which your parents were young adults)?  Think about that when you get dressed each morning. It may be cool now (and this is a mild example)…
And if you do this to your feet several days a week, your fifty-something-self is going to hate your twenty-something-self:
Ditto if you do this to your skin:
Do not put your newborn into a hard-edged, top-heavy, uncomfortable container for the sake of a photograph. Especially don’t do that and place the whole thing on the edge of a counter. THINK!
Saying you up-cycled an item doesn’t make it so:
Because sometimes it really is just trash and that’s where it needs to go:
If having it requires you to end your marriage, it’s not worth it:
And, finally (aren’t you relieved?), some found objects should surely remain lost:
