Chronicling Our Meals

For awhile now, I have been wishing to record all of our main meals for one year. I think one of the most interesting things about cooking is how one meal segues into another — leftover potatoes become potato soup, purposely large amounts of pot roast become two or three meals of totally different character, or Saturday night becomes pizza night. I challenged myself to make 2010 the year to accomplish this goal, and I am finding it quite a challenge.

Since last week:
Sat, 1/23 — hamburger/red pepper pizza
Sun, 1/24 — Brunswick stew, pickled peaches, rolls, apple cake w/ caramel icing
Mon, 1/25 — Aunt Jolene’s chicken casserole (w/ turkey), braised green beans w/ tomatoes, bacon, and onion, rolls
Tues, 1/26 — leftover stew, cornbread
Wed, 1/27 — Italian-style meatloaf w/ mozzarella in the middle, baked potatoes (one exploded!), steamed carrots

Tonight: lemon cream pasta w/ smoked salmon — this to use up some heavy cream before we go out of town; cheese toast
