We’re Just Waiting for Asparagus

Nothing much is happening here, culinarily speaking. This time is “the waiting room of the world,” and I am trying to be patient. The weather teases us mercilessly — almost balmy today and snow forecast for two days from now. I toured the gardens yesterday, sowing some lettuce in the salad bed and clearing away a bit of the old asparagus fronds, hoping for a sign. I found one white tip just under the surface of the cold, soggy soil. It’s not much, but for a gal weary of winter, it is Hope. It is Anticipation. It’ll do.
